1 Corinthians | Living a Godly Life in a Pagan Culture
The city of Corinth was a major port city along a well traveled trade route, and this made it a hub of culture and commerce in ancient Greece. Corinth was extremely wealthy financially, and yet bankrupt morally. The people had brought a lot of their worldly “wisdom” and immorality with them into the church, causing deep and damaging problems. Paul addresses a number of issues that the church is dealing with, all having their root in carnality. Being in Christ is freedom from sin, not freedom to sin.
