Strong Disciples Make a Church Stronger
Discipleship is one of the clearest imperative commands by Jesus after His death and prior to ascending in MT 28:18-20, “Go and make disciples…”
Many churches do not purposely disciple new converts, or deliberately raise the level of biblical knowledge within the church. At Redemption we equip, teach, edify and mature each individual to reflect the image of Christ. Discipleship at Redemption Calvary wants to achieve fruitfulness and life in each person.
The very first words God ever spoke to man after speaking creation into being was: “Be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth…Gen 1:28”. This same commission was repeated to Noah, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and then to the church in the great commission.
This purposeful ministry starts with 16 lessons coverings the basic doctrines of faith. It is not however, just completing the course, it is a lifelong commitment to the command of Jesus.
The key verse for this ministry is II Tim 2:2. “And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.…”
The exchange of life via interaction with the Word of God, from a discipler to a disciple, blesses both parties. The goal is for the disciple to be able to teach others in his family, circle of friends, and children. Even long time believers find the process invigorating.
Strong disciples make a church stronger, promotes evangelism, and the usefulness (fruitfulness) of our congregation.
We pray you strongly consider asking about being disciple. For those of you that are mature in the Lord we would ask you to go through this so you can learn how to disciple others.
